Ecstatic Prom Fundraiser to Benefit AMC

Most of us remember prom, whether we went or not. Maybe it was a night you think of fondly, maybe it was awkward, or maybe you never went at all. Ecstatic Prom is a grown-up do-over, a chance to celebrate the dance that brings us all together and have some real fun doing it.

Ecstatic dance is a practice of moving freely to music, letting your body lead instead of following steps or a partner.

For nearly 25 years, the Asheville Movement Collective has created space for this practice in our city, growing into a community that now dances together every Friday night and Sunday morning. The dance can hold unexpected joy, space for grief to move, and moments of feeling at home in your body.

AMC is committed to keeping this dance open to everyone, regardless of financial means. We hold a No One Turned Away For Lack Of Funds policy, so reduced and free entry is always available to anyone who needs it. Beyond our weekly dances, we offer workshops and special events for the wider community, along with free childcare during 2nd Wave so parents can dance too.

That commitment is carried by our whole community, by every dancer whose weekly contribution keeps the dance going, and by events like Ecstatic Prom, an event-based fundraiser. If you're able to give more at checkout, it helps keep all of this open to everyone who wants to be part of it.

No dance experience needed.
