This hike will include Tripod Rock, Bear Rock, the Hundred Steps Trail, Lake Valhalla Overlook, and more. The distance will be 9-10 miles altogether. Meeting place is The Meadetown Shopping Center on Rte 23. There will be a short carpool to the trailhead.
Carry a day pack with water and lunch. Hiking boots/trail shoes are essential. Available bus from NYC (Transportation 8C as AMC codes) 8:10 a.m. NJ TRANSIT (212-564-8484, 973-762-5100 https://www.njtransit.com/pdf/bus/T0194.pdf . Bus #194 Meadetown NJ Shopping Center, Rt. 23, in Butler. Arr. 9:36 . Stops only on request.
The Meadetown Shopping Center is on Route 23 about 3.5 mi. west of its junction with I-287. If coming from I-287/Wayne/NYC direction, take exit signposted Kiel Ave Kinnelon Road, Meadetown Shopping Center, and follow signs to the Meadetown Shopping Center, which is on the opposite side of Route 23.
