If you’ve been curious about bikepacking—or you’re looking to level up your skills for your next adventure – join us for a Bikepacking Essentials Workshop. Joe Nocella from 718 Outdoors will share knowledge and tips gained from leading more than 175 bikepacking trips.
This session is designed for riders of all experience levels. Whether you’re planning your first overnight or refining your setup for a multi‑day trip, you’ll walk away with practical knowledge you can put to use immediately.
What we’ll cover:
· Route planning basics, including terrain, mileage, and camping/accommodations
· How to choose and pack gear for different types of trips
· Bike setup and load distribution
· Group riding, safety, and navigation
· Bike camping skills (some AMC trips will offer cabin/hotel options)
· Examples of real-world setups for gravel, mixed‑terrain, and rail‑trail trips
You’re welcome to bring your bike or any gear you’d like help evaluating. There will also be time for Q&A and route‑planning ideas.
This indoor workshop will be held in the Rivian Showroom in the Meatpacking District. Combine it with an afternoon exploring the neighborhood.
Come at 11:30 for refreshments and to mingle. - the program starts at 12:00.
