Peabody Preserve & Philipse Manor-Tarrytown Shoreline (A Relaxed Hike)

This will be a mellow hike featuring a very nice, seldom visited nature area near the shore of the Hudson River. There will be some actual hiking along hilly trails, but most of the time we will be on flat walkways and pavement. The pace will be comfortable and the total distance covered will be around 4 miles. Expect river and forest views, some woodland and parkland, and perhaps an interesting bird or two.

Please dress for the weather and bring some drinking water and a snack. There will be no formal lunch stop, but we will pause and take breaks along the way. At the end of the hike, we will visit one of Tarrytown's many dining establishments for an early supper. We may stop for coffee or a drink beforehand.

We plan to meet up at the entrance to the Metro North Railroad Station in Philipse Manor at 1:30 pm. There are a few different trains that participants can catch, the 12:25 from Grand Central is the one most of you will be interested in. There is no public bathroom at the Philipse Manor station, so using the bathroom on the train is recommended. It is not clear if there is free parking at the train station, you have to contact the town to find out, but nearby street parking appears to be available. Keep in mind that the hike will end in Tarrytown, not in Philipse Manor. The total group size is limited to 50 participants. Questions and concerns can be posted below.
