Hiking at Lyndhurst Estate

Lyndhurst Estate is a striking example of Gothic Revival architecture, set within a 67-acre park along the Hudson River in Tarrytown, New York. Located about half a mile south of the Tappan Zee Mario Cuomo Bridge on US Route 9, the estate has been designated a National Historic Landmark since 1966.

The group will gather at the parking lot in Irvington, NY, just south of the TZ Cuomo Bridge. Participants are encouraged to take the 9:35 AM Sunday Metro-North Hudson Line train departing from Grand Central Terminal. The meeting time is set for 10:14 AM, coinciding with the train's arrival at the Irvington station.
Free parking in the lot. Drivers can arrive around 10 AM and help greet the incoming train.

From the Irvington train station, the hike will commence with an ascent up the downtown Irvington hill to connect with the Old Croton Aqueduct (OCA) Trail. The group will proceed north, entering the scenic Lyndhurst property. The hike will follow a paved route on the estate grounds; entry into the mansion itself is not included in the itinerary.
Hikers should bring their own lunch and be prepared for a journey of approximately five miles at a moderate pace. Guests are welcome, provided they can keep up with the group's pace.

Please note that restroom facilities are not available at the train station. Restrooms are available on the Lyndhurst grounds, which also feature a gift shop and outdoor tables and chairs for use during breaks. The hike offers picturesque views and a rewarding experience, with moderately challenging, hilly terrain.
