The hike will take place in the New Jersey section of the Palisades Interstate Park. We will descend a trail toward the shoreline, then proceed north for about three miles before ascending to reach the Long Path for the return section of the hike. The route does not include the Giant Stairs section, which is currently closed after a rockfall.
The meeting place is the pulloff on the right-hand side of 9W just north of the junction with Closter Dock Road in Alpine, NJ. Bring a pack with lunch, water, and rain gear.
The hike will be on the easier end of Moderate and about 6 1/2 miles in length, including side trails to views. The hike meeting place can be reached on the Rockland Coaches 9/9A bus https://www.coachusa.com/rockland-coaches departing from the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal Gate 4 at 8.45 a.m., arriving at 9.07 a.m. Please note that this bus route no longer includes the Port Authority Bus Terminal. There is a return service in the afternoon to GWBT or PABT.
