Strenuous. ~10.5 miles. Rock scrambling with hiking. RAIN or severe threat of rain, WILL CANCEL.

Must arrive in car. We will meet at Mohonk Preserve Coxing Trailhead 41.74506372885334, -74.19698682154691

If you are not yet a Mohonk Preserve Member, be prepared to pay the $15 weekday use fee. Consider becoming a member if you think you'll come a few times.

The hike is for people who :

  • are comfortable walking over rocks and very uneven surfaces
  • are able and comfortable using their arms as much as legs
  • who can tolerate heights and shimmying through some occasional small dark places. .

PACE: Moderately Brisk on flat surfaces, slower through/over/between/under/within rocks.

Path:
-Old Minnewaska and Undivided Trail to Plateau Path
-Zaidee's Bower-a loop of interesting rock forms
-Arching Rocks to Giants Path up to Laurel Ledge
-Up and Back to Eagle's Cliff Ascent --great Gazebos and views
-Lake Shore Path along Mohonk Lake
-The Labyrinth (not including the Crevice)
-Old Minnewaska Road to Shomgum Path
-To Split Rock (a swimming hole) and car

BRING:

  • Lunch/snacks
  • Plenty of Water
  • Hiking boots (NOT sneakers)
  • A not giant stuffed backpack.

If bringing poles, you'll only want to bring collapsible ones that can easily stow in your bag.
