We will spend a good part of our time on this urban hike exploring the neighborhood of Far Rockaway, beginning with the historic Central Avenue all the way to the Russell Sage Memorial, with its campus like grounds. We will then see some of the grand residences from a century ago. After viewing some more historic gems on Mott Avenue, we make our way to the boardwalk for a short walk towards the A train at Beach 25th Street. On the way we see some true nostalgia, the remaining bungalows from around the 1920's in the area known as Wavecrest.

We will walk at a steady, moderate but not slow pace over a distance of around 4 miles, stopping at places of interest. There will be no lunch stop, so bring some snacks along if you wish. (This hike is intended for adults 18 years and older and please no dogs).

Precipitation or even questionable forecast may cancel, postpone or modify; check website for latest updates. We meet at 1:00 PM at 2115 Mott Avenue in front of the Last Stop Deli., which is right outside of the front of the A train subway station. To get there take the Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue bound A train to the last stop at Mott Avenue.

You have an option of signing a paper liability waiver at the meeting place, but encouraged to do so online on the AMC website by clicking on link below:
