Details

This upcoming moderately paced hike in Van Cortlandt Park offers a unique experience, distinct from previous scheduled hikes. The route has not been followed in nearly a decade, making it a rare opportunity for participants. Unlike typical hikes confined to the park, this route will briefly venture into a nearby neighborhood before returning to the park.

Expect a variety of terrain, including some ascents and descents, as well as stair climbing. The hike will include a section along the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail within Van Cortlandt Park and a visit to Yonkers. The path is designed as a circular route, ensuring that the hike concludes at its starting point.

The total distance covered will be approximately five miles, with a duration of up to two and a half hours.
There will not be a dedicated lunch stop during the hike. Participants should bring a snack and be ready to eat while walking. While mosquitoes are not expected, carrying insect repellent is recommended as a precaution. No pets on the hike. Attendance limit 45, then a waitlist.

Meeting Spot: Take the IRT Number 1 train to the last stop in the Bronx, 242nd St. and Broadway. Meet by the restrooms on Broadway by 9:30 AM, at street level, just after exiting the train. If driving, contact me for further parking directions.
