Leave No Trace 8-Hour Awareness Class
The Leave No Trace 8-Hour Awareness Class is an engaging, hands-on introduction to the principles and practices of responsible outdoor recreation. Designed for outdoor enthusiasts, educators, youth leaders, guides, land stewards, and anyone who spends time outside, this course provides practical skills for minimizing our impact on natural and recreational areas.
Throughout the day, participants will explore the Seven Principles of Leave No Trace, including planning ahead and preparing, traveling and camping on durable surfaces, disposing of waste properly, leaving what you find, minimizing campfire impacts, respecting wildlife, and being considerate of others.
The class combines discussion, demonstrations, scenarios, and interactive activities to help participants understand not only what Leave No Trace practices are, but why they matter. Participants will learn how to apply these principles in a variety of outdoor settings—from backcountry campsites and trails to parks and front-country recreation areas.
By the end of the course, participants will have a stronger understanding of outdoor ethics, practical low-impact recreation techniques, and the confidence to model and share Leave No Trace practices with others.
