Marshlands Conservancy and the John Jay Site (EASY))

This easy 5-mile hike is suitable for beginners, new hikers, and experienced hikers interested in exploring a fascinating nature preserve and historic grounds in Westchester County on Long Island Sound.
Marshlands Conservancy is a 147-acre wildlife sanctuary composed of diverse habitats, including forest, meadow, salt marsh, and shore. The conservancy has three miles of trails and one-half mile of shoreline along Long Island Sound, which participants can explore and appreciate.
We will walk one mile each way through suburban Harrison and enjoy an additional three miles at the conservancy. The hike will take us through the woods and along hiking trails, followed by an additional outdoor tour of the Jay estate. Steve will present a brief history of John Jay.
Inclement weather cancels. Bring bug spray. No pets allowed on this one.

Public Transportation: From Grand Central Station or stops along the way: MetroNorth New Haven line starting at 9:08 AM and arriving at Harrison, NY at 9:51 AM. Then a 1-mile suburban walk to Marshlands. Confirm train schedule. Try and use a restroom before arrival. STEVE WILL MEET THE GROUP AT THE TRAIN STATION AT 9:51 AM AND CONTINUE THE EVENT.
