The ferry leaves the Ossining dock at 11:55 and arrives in Haverstraw at 12:10.
There are three trains you can take to Ossining to catch the 11:55 ferry. An important consideration is that the restroom in the Ossining waterfront park is the the only restroom available until we reach Nyack Beach Park at 6.4 miles.
- the 9:53 semi-express train arrives Ossining at 10:50, I will take this train, time to relax on the Ossining waterfront, stop at the restroom, get on the ferry line
- the 10:25 local train arriving Ossining 11:28, enough time to hit the restroom before boarding the ferry
- the 10:53 express train arriving Ossining 11:50, just 2 minutes before the ferry leaves and possibly too late to make the ferry, if you take this train, sit in the second to last train car and then run up the stairs and left down the ramp and right to the ferry.
The NY Waterway ferry from Ossining to Haverstraw is $4.75/$2.50 62+, use cash on the ferry or buy a paper ticket at a NY Waterway ticket window or ticket machine beforehand or download the NY Waterway app on your phone and use that for a ticket, here's a list of places to buy tickets: Ferry Tickets. If you miss the 11:55 ferry take the 12:55 ferry and let me know and follow the route, you may be able to catch up.
Walking route: south on Riverside Avenue about 1.5 miles to the Haverstraw River Trail, about 5 miles to Nyack Beach State Park (restroom) then North Broadway for about 2 miles, right on Main Street, left on S. Franklin to the bus stop on the left in the parking lot: eastbound H05 bus to White Plains train station or eastbound H07 bus to Tarrytown train station, fare $2.75, ticket machine at bus stop or exact cash fare; or green TOR (Transport of Rockland) bus back to the Haverstraw ferry landing: TOR ferry bus schedule
The river trail runs along the Hudson River below Hook Mountain, the total elevation gain is just 451 feet, there's a few small inclines but mostly the trail is flat and wide, bicycles will be sharing the path with us.
Restrooms at Ossining waterfront park before the ferry and Nyack Beach State Park at 6.4 miles. First water at Nyack Beach State Park so bring plenty of water with you. Short breaks along the way, eat when you want, we will not have a designated lunch. Sneakers and shorts are fine, bring sunscreen, hat, bug spray, snacks, lunch and plenty of water.
Returning to the city, there is a 6:02 express train, a 6:18 local train and a 6:51 semi-express train.
