Details: Susan Feinstein, a Ward Pound Ridge Centenary 100-miler, developed this route during her many hikes throughout the park this year and last. It includes portions of the Rocks, Red, Green, Yellow, Blue and Orange trails, often in ways not usually hiked: we'll start the hike going south on the Red/Green trails, a route that we usually take northbound at the end of a Rocks Trail hike. And we'll go north on the west branch of the Blue trail (away from Gilmore Pond), which we usually take southbound. The northbound portion will include ascending the col which we usually descend (the ascent is generally regarded as easier), and checking on the progress of the ersatz firetower being erected at the high point of the Blue trail. Hiking there last month, the firetower foreman offered a detailed update on the project's progress; perhaps he'll be available and similarly generous with his time on Wednesday.

Because we have not previously done this route in its entirety (and, to quote the inimitable Steve Tartas, it's a route that "to the best of my knowledge has never been done by another local hiking group"), the mileage range is an estimate; it could be as little as 6.5 miles and as much as 8 miles. There will also be early-out opportunities, although please keep in mind that if you take an early out, the AMC considers you to have left the hike voluntarily.

AMC Health Advisory: Covid and other respiratory illnesses are circulating in our communities. Do not participate in this hike if you, or someone who you have recently been in contact with, is either infected or symptomatic.

RSVP for "yes" only, by 8 pm Tuesday by clicking here: https://activities.outdoors.org/s/oc-activity/a5UVX000001KtML/act00024298. A pre-hike note, including detailed logistical information, will be sent to everyone signed up on the AMC;s Outdoors.org website.
