Description: This picturesque hike, which begins in October Mtn. Reservoir, is a loop trail around Washington Mtn. Marsh in October Mountain State Forest in Berkshire County. It features beaver lodges, fern and root covered trails, boardwalks, moose tracks, and 5 shallow stream crossings. With a side hike and walk to an old cemetery from the 1800, we will traverse about 4.3 miles. Elevation gain is insignificant, but the several stream crossings may boost this hike from easy to moderate. October Mountain State Forest is the largest in Mass. and probably the least explored. Hike will be approx. 3 hours. Local lunch spots will be researched for after the hike.
