10.5 Mile Hike on the Pennypack Trail

Details
Pennypack Trail is a crushed stone path that follows the former Fox Chase-Newtown SEPTA rail line. It travels along a scenic corridor beginning at Rockledge Park and continuing north to the Bucks-Montgomery border at County Line Road. The trail is part of a larger network of trails in the area, including Lorimer Park and Pennypack Preserve.
We will gather at the Byberry Rd Parking lot and walk 5.25 miles to Rockledge Park, where we will take aprr. 20-30 min break (there is a small gazebo here but not much of a place to sit, so perhaps some folks may bring a blanket or 2 to sit on) and then head back to Byberry Rd for a total of 10.5 miles.
The trail is completely flat but I will exercise the option of taking the group on a mini-molehill "just because" (and I also like to yell "ORRISON!" when I go up - feel free to join me).
Bathrooms available at Byberry Rd Parking lot, Bryn Athyn Post Office (mile 3.25), Welsh Rd Parking lot (mile 2.5) and Lorimer Park (mile 1.0 - Water is available here as well). There are plenty of benches along the way if need be.
Safety Notes: The trail crosses Terwood Rd at appr. mile 2.8 and Welsh Rd (Rte-63) shortly after that. Please push the buttons to activate the signals to alert motorists and still proceed with caution when crossing, looking both ways. It then also crosses the active SEPTA West Trenton line at appr. mile 2.4. Please obey the signals and gates when trains approach!
We will have an after-hike lunch at a location to be determined. More details will follow as we get closer.
