City Clean-up & Meet the Locals

Our next City Clean-up will take us back to the surroundings of Café Bern in Nieuwmarkt! There'll be terrace space reserved for us after the cleanup so we can enjoy a free first drink together in the sunshine!

A neighbourhood favourite, Café Bern has retained the same familiar charm for more than 4 decades. It's actually founded by a fella expat!

Looking for a career switch, Swiss nuclear physicist Helmut Winzeler, who just so happened to be an accomplished cook as well, started Café Bern with his family in 1978, later joined by Amsterdammer Koen Vollaers, best known for iconic restaurants and food festivals such as Aprilfeesten and Rollende Keukens.

The longevity of Café Bern is defined by just 3 simple ingredients: a meal, a drink and great conversation.

Just like the last time, we will gain a rare opportunity to learn about the history of the location!

We'll gather at 14:30 outside Café Bern in Nieuwmarkt. Clean-up tools will be provided.
