Sunday City-center stroll; Quest for the Houten Huys
Details
Hi everyone!
After a well-deserved summer hiatus, we're back! Now that the weather is turning properly Dutch again (read: rainy and cold), it's the perfect time to revive our Amsterdam city walks—and this time, we're on a quest to find the city's legendary wooden houses.
P.S. bring your friends and your crazy neighbor!
The Quest:
Did you know only two wooden houses survive in Amsterdam's city center? After devastating fires in the 15th century, Emperor Charles V banned wooden buildings in 1521, making these rare survivors true relics of medieval Amsterdam. We're going on a treasure hunt to find them both!
Plan:
We'll meet in front of Loetje at Centraal Station (Stationsplein 10, right across from the main station entrance).
From there, we'll walk through the historic old city, hunting for our wooden houses. During our quest, we'll duck into a warm café for a beer, coffee, or hot chocolate to chase away the chill.
Details:
Meeting point: In front of Loetje at Centraal Station (Stationsplein 10)
Time: 14:30
We'll share our live location.
Dress warmly—Amsterdam winter walks build character, and wooden house hunting builds knowledge!
