What we’re about
A great way to improve your running skills in an iconic environment: the Amsterdam Olympic Stadium.
We are a regular social running group that gets together every Saturday morning 9.30-11 AM in the Olympic stadium. No, it’s not about boring laps of 400 meters for 90 minutes. We start the training with running exercises, followed by a program of various intervals and tempos. All under supervision of a running coach. Both exercises and main program vary weekly: we have four coaches, one for every week of the month! During the summer months, our Saturday morning run alternates between the Olympic Stadium and the Amsterdamse Bos.
Our running group is called GAJAPIVAR (it’s an odd name, we know, but we can explain). Gajapivarees are members of Phanos, the Amsterdam athletics club, but please don’t think you have to be an athlete to join us. We are a group of diverse running skills. Some of us average 9 km/hour, others 11 or more, but since we run on a track we never lose one another out of sight. And lest we forget: apart from running, it’s also about having fun as well.
So grab your shoes and check it out this Saturday at the Olympic Stadium! Meet us there at 9:30. You'll find the door marked ‘Phanos’ just left of the main entrance (east-side of the stadium) but you can take that main gate as well if it is open.

PS: most of us never point out on Meetup that they are going to the Saturday morning training as we make use of our own Whatsapp group. So do not draw any conclusion if Meetup shows that just 2 or 3 are attending....
