I stumbled on a neuroscience paper about how external rewards (money, praise, grades) and internal drive (curiosity, purpose) might work against each other in our brains. But I’ve got questions:
- Is this always true, or just sometimes?
- Why do some people thrive on rewards while others lose motivation?
- How can we use this in real life, work, hobbies, habits?
I’m not an expert, just someone who fell into a research rabbit hole. Let’s talk it through as a group! The plan is:
- Break down the paper in plain language.
- Share stories: When have rewards backfired on you? When have they helped?
- Brainstorm hacks: How to design goals, teams, or habits that keep motivation alive.
No prep needed, just bring your thoughts, but if you are curious this is the article
