Welcome to the Amsterdam Roller Derby Community Meetup!
This group is for all roller skating and roller derby enthusiasts based in or around Amsterdam, who are looking to connect with others who share a passion for the sport. We will be organizing a variety of events, including our Open Houses (for anyone interested in starting), social meetups, and matches.
Whether you're a seasoned roller derby player or just curious about the sport, this group is a great way to meet new friends and have a great time cheering on our local teams. Join us and let's make this community grow!

If you are looking for something a little weird and wildly fun: our Open House is made for you!
Twice a year our league opens its doors for everyone interested in trying and getting to know more about this amazing sport.
But what is roller derby?
In very short terms: roller derby is a fast-paced, full-contact sport where two teams of five skaters. The game is played in short bursts called jams, with each team sending out a jammer (easily spotted by the star on their helmet) who scores points by lapping members of the opposing team.
It's dynamic, chaotic, strategic, and a whole lot of fun to play and watch!
Do I need to know how to skate to join the Open House?
Nope! Most people who join have never skated before. We’ll teach you from the very beginning.
Do I need to bring anything?
Just wear comfy clothes and bring a water bottle. We’ll provide skates and safety gear.
Who can join?
Everyone 16+ is welcome! We are an all-gender, all-backgrounds, all-experience-levels league.
And more than a sport, roller derby is a whole community!
So even if you're unsure if roller skating is for you, you still might find a place for you here.
