About us
Connect with Amsterdam through a Local
This group is for internationals who are new to Amsterdam and want to feel more at home in the city, socially, culturally, and in everyday life.
Instead of big networking events or tours, we focus on small, personal meetups (max. 3 participants) in cozy local coffee spots. The goal is simple: open conversation, practical insight, and real connection, with the city and with each other.
Together, we explore:
- Amsterdam’s history (in a short, relevant way)
- Today’s culture, trends, and subcultures
- The vibe and unwritten rules of different neighborhoods
- Practical tips for daily life in the city
- Space for your questions, experiences, and reflections
This group is about understanding Amsterdam beyond the surface, and finding your place in it at your own pace.
About Emma
I’m Emma, an Amsterdam local with a love for the city’s stories, places, and evolving culture.
Naturally, I enjoy sharing tips and insights, and doing this for international newcomers feels genuinely meaningful to me. It helps reduce loneliness, strengthens the connection between locals and internationals, and makes the city feel more human.
I was born in Amstelveen, currently live in Oud-West, and have a background in engineering and strategic consulting. I host these meetups in a personal, down-to-earth way, creating a safe and welcoming space for conversation and connection.
Ask questions, get practical advice, and connect with a few like-minded people along the way.
Perfect for:
- Internationals new to Amsterdam
- People who prefer small, meaningful meetups over large group events
- Anyone curious to understand the city from a local perspective
Meetups are held weekly with a maximum of 3 participants, so spots are limited.
I really look forward to meeting you and hearing your story. Every group brings something different, and I love creating a space where people can feel welcome, curious, and at ease in a new city.
Emma
