Steam Power

Details

Join me for an opportunity to see and photograph a real life steam engine powering a pumping station.

This day is also 'Day of the child' so expect some children with wide open mouths seeing the machine run. Altogether an interesting event showing some authentic Dutch heritage with opportunities to get some different type of shots like iron and steam, copper and gleam plus all the people around. The story of the pumping station is shown here:

The small town of Halfweg is only a very short train ride away from Amsterdam and the pumping station right around the corner of the railway station. There's also easy for parking a car.

We join the museum right at the start where the engine is opened up offering some excitement. All the area is open for visitors without any rails to keep people away. That's great for getting your camera into some interesting spots. It's also great for possible accidents so be aware. We're all free to walk around. For people interested I'll do a small tour explaining the function of the engine and the function of the pumping station in keeping our polders dry.

We enter at 10.00 so try and be present before.
A small entrance fee (7 euros) is required.

After a few hours we have some lunch at the restaurant very close to the museum. Hopefully spending some time at a sunny terrace next to some polder water.

Reminder!
Please be aware of possible scheduling changes due to machine malfunctions and such.
Check this meetup page or your mail the day before. I'll put up a message with the latest info.
