WHISTLE LAKE WANDER

Details
We are going to explore some of the side trails at Whistle Lake, mostly on the east side this time. So much to explore here!
The Basics: Approximately six miles, minimal elevation gain. Terrain is mixed, with some roots and rocks and mud. We will meet at the trailhead parking lot on Whistle Lake Road (directions to follow). No parking pass is required. Plan on approximately 2.5 to 3 hours of hiking (moderate pace).
Getting There: From Bellingham, Burlington, etc., take WA-20 west. Follow WA-20 in to town and go left (south) on Commercial at the traffic circle (second arterial entering Anacortes). Take Commercial Avenue and turn right on Fidalgo Avenue, and then left on O Avenue. Follow O Avenue all the way out, as it bends left and then right, turning left on Spradley Rd. Follow Spradley and then turn right on Whistle Lake Road. Turn left onto Whistle Lake Terrace and then almost immediately right onto Whistle Lake Road (dirt road) and follow this to the trailhead. Watch for signs that point to the lake.

A word about RSVPs, waitlist and no shows. Please, do not sign up unless you are intent on joining us for this wonderful hike. If you cannot make the hike, and life happens, for sure, please change your RSVP as soon as possible, preferably not the same day. If you are on the waitlist, please remove yourself if you have decided that you are not interested in this hike. If you are on the waitlist and do wish to attend please monitor your Meetup account the day of the event as oftentimes there is some shuffling and you may find that you do have a spot! This is a fun welcoming group, and we want you to be a part of the good times!
Rain Policy: A hard rain cancels, showers do not. Watch Weather Underground the day before. If the forecast is over 50% rain for the time of the hike watch for a possible cancellation notice.
Well behaved leashed dogs are welcome.
A $2.00 donation is suggested to help defray the costs of this group utilizing the Meetup platform. Thank you.
