Sea Kayak Expedition: Chenega To Whittier

Bill and I invite you to join a 10-12 day Sea Kayak Expedition from Chenega to Whittier.

The State Ferry "Aurora" Departs Whittier at 1:45PM on Friday, June 19. The plan is to paddle back to Whiter from there. 10-12 days.

Our paddling style is to meet prior to the trip with maps, and decide on a route and schedule. "Front-loading" the planing really makes the trip more enjoyable.

Ferry ride cost with kayak: about $85

We would have the following schedule:
Whittier to Chenega (Sawmill Bay) June 19. Depart 1:45p.m. arrive 6:30 p.m.

Estimate 12 to 15 miles per day.
Carry 14 days of food because of potential weather delays.

Must have at least intermediate paddling skills.
Sea kayak 16 feet or longer-
Have a dry suit and all other necessary paddling gear.
Must be completely self sufficient with regards to camping gear,
tent, stove gas, food, etc.
Must be resilient to rain, bugs, and other "type 2 fun".
Have the ability to recover from a capsize in deep water.

Because of limited camping space will be keeping this to about 4 people.
