Formed in Sacramento, California, in 1991, CAKE quickly stood apart from the grunge-dominated rock scene of the era with an ever-inventive sound defined by dry, deadpan vocals, sharp wit and trumpet flourishes. Seamlessly blending numerous genres and influences, the band established itself as a mainstay of American alternative music from the 1990s to today.

Across their catalog, CAKE has produced numerous chart-topping alt-rock singles, including “Never There,” which reached #1 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart; “Short Skirt/Long Jacket,” which peaked at #7 on the Alternative Airplay chart; and “Sick of You,” which rose to #4 on the Alternative Songs chart. Their most recent studio album, Showroom of Compassion, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. In addition to an active national touring schedule, CAKE is currently at work on their ninth album, slated for release in fall 2025.
