The Doors of Perception

Details
LET'S ALL STRIVE MIGHTILY TO TAKE OUR WRITING CRAFT TO EXCITING NEW HEIGHTS!
We perceive such a minute portion of the whole. Or perhaps, like the poor blighter in Plato's allegory of the cave, we don't see reality at all, but merely the ever-shifting shadows cast by a firelight. Or maybe the aliens in Slaughterhouse Five had it right and we are viewing everything through a very narrow tube.
We dwell in a hologram, a matrix, a simulation we erroneously dub "reality." From time to time a glitch arises.
"The Kingdom of the Father is spread out on the earth, but people do not see it." -- The Gospel of Thomas
"God is in everything I see, because God is in my mind." -- A Course in Miracles
"If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro' narrow chinks in his cavern. "-- William Blake, The Marriage of Heaven and Hell.
"For now we see through a glass darkly." -- I Corinthians
In writing, we cleanse our doors of perception. Writing can be a healing, therapeutic process. We might write about orcs or space battles or time machines, but somewhere along the way little bits of ourselves get caught in the mix. We find creative expression for everything that is within, and learn to look upon things in a new light.
