Coroutines and an intro to asynchronous programming It will be about l be providing an introduction to why asynchronous programming is the need of the hour and Kotlin coroutines are an easy construct to enable that. There will be using live examples to walk through the fundamentals. Also, we will talk about things to keep in mind while building applications at scale and how Kotlin coroutines can help.
Speakers bios:
Stefan Doychev is a Senior Android Engineer on the VMware EUC team, developing own and enterprise Android applications since 2011. He is the winner of the very prestigious GDC 2018 Best in Play Award for the Sunwalker VR game as part of the Hack & Paint team. Stefan is co-organizer of the Hardcore Game Jam and Hack & Design Challenge events. Also a participant in many game jams at home and abroad.
Karishma Babu is Sr. Engineering Manager leading Android Hub, VMware’s flagship mobile product that enables IT administrators to manage and secure corporate data and devices. It aims to make you more productive when you are on the go. Android Hub has over 10 million active users. Prior to this, she has led Android Boxer, VMware’s secure email client which had over a million active users. Her role is to provide engineering direction to the team so that they are constantly thinking about quality, performance, scalability and security. Karishma has been an Android developer for 10+ years, starting her career at Samsung where she helped build Samsung’s first device management framework for Android. Karishma hold multiple patents in this area. She enjoys playing around with new frameworks and tools and she is a big advocate for an engineering driven culture.
