ES8, Async Functions, Service Workers and Quick Intro to Material Design

Details

ES5, ES6, ES 2016, ... ES 2017 - Did I miss any version of JavaScript?... What is the difference between them?

This time we would have a short talks about the final feature set of ECMAScript 2017 (ES8) and Material Design.

Brett Uglow will show how to improve JavaScript app performance by using Service Workers, Server optimisations and AOT.

Dealing with asynchronous functions has been a bit of a problem since the early days of JavaScript. Promises help a bit, but they're still limited in some ways. Async functions make writing async code simpler, and let you do some things that aren't so easy with promises.

In her talk Erin Zimmer will go through an example to see how async functions actually work under the covers, as well as look at some real code samples to see how much async functions can improve even straight-forward code.
