Prepping for some awesome hiking at the Peaks for Pigs kick-off! Melody, Roxy, Laura and Charlie

Dear valued members,

Congratulations to fabulous Charlie Boling, the brainchild behind the Peaks for Pigs fundraiser, and to awesome co-organizer Melody Hodges, for the timely campaign to gather funds for Ironwood Pig Sanctuary by way of some hiking fun! Many thanks to all that participated in helping the piggies by hiking for the cause, sponsoring hikers, contributing funds/supplies directly to Ironwood and also to all that have collected (and are still collecting) much-needed donations and supplies that'll be brought to Ironwood this Saturday, June 18th!

For anyone still wishing to get in on this great opportunity to help make a difference for the piggies, you're still in time!

Here's how:
•Collect last-minute monetary donations (made out to Ironwood Pig Sanctuary) and/or make a donation yourself to bring this Saturday to Ironwood ~ any amount will help tremendously. If unable to attend Saturday's tour, please e-mail peaks4pigs@gmail.com to make arrangements for pick up's!
•Collect top-of-the-list must-have items on the Piggy Wish List, including: creamy peanut butter (to make medicine time easier for the piggies), blankets & sheets (clean/used are great!), sunscreen (spf 30 or higher; no sprays please). Bring the supplies with you this Saturday. If unable to attend Saturday's tour, please e-mail peaks4pigs@gmail.com to make arrangements for pick-up's!
•You might get a chance to score an official Peaks for Pigs t-shirt (ONLY $15/EACH) to wear at this Saturday's tour if you act fast and get your t-shirt size to the organizers asap! We do hope you can attend this special tour of kindness along with Charlie and Melody and all that have also contributed to the piggies!

Dexter, abandoned at a trailhead ~ now in safe refuge at Ironwood!

Directions to Ironwood Pig Sanctuary from the Phoenix area:

From Phoenix: Take I-10 East towards Tucson to the Picacho Peak Road (The Peak, not the town). Exit #219. Make a left turn at the end of the exit ramp and go under the freeway until coming to the East side frontage road. Turn right on the frontage road and go 4.8 miles to Park Link Road. Turn left on Park Link Road.

Go a total of 8.2 miles on Park Link and turn right on Cattle Tank Road. Cattle Tank is dirt, but it is graded periodically. There are some bumps, so drive carefully. There is one 300 foot section between the County's "not a maintained road" signs that has some larger bumps. But don't worry the road is passable even with a small car.

Go south 3.1 miles. As you near the 3.1 mile point watch for a brown wooden fence post on the right with red reflectors. This fence post is partially hidden by some bushes. Turn left at this post down our lane. Our lane is unmarked. Go about 0.7 miles. We are on the left. You can’t miss our sign at the front of the sanctuary. The gate goes in. Lift the inner pin on the left side to open the gate. Please park inside.

Please be sure to e-mail peaks4pigs@gmail.com with any questions.

Thank you everyone! Your efforts are paying off BIG for the piggies!
