Please join local PETA supporters to urge SeaWorld to release Corky to a seaside sanctuary before it’s too late. December 11th marks the 56th anniversary of Corky’s capture, and she remains the longest-held captive orca in the world.

In 1969 off the coast of British Columbia, a pod of orcas was attacked by humans in boats. Calves were forcibly and violently separated from their mothers—a bond that many wild orcas share for life—and sold into captivity. One of the young orcas taken that day was Corky. Today, Corky is locked inside one of SeaWorld’s tiny tanks, swimming in endless circles. Her siblings and other members of her pod still swim freely in the ocean, but the only life that Corky knows is one of deprivation, suffering, and loss.
Following the death of the orca Lolita, who spent more than five decades imprisoned in a tiny tank at the Miami Seaquarium, PETA supporters are calling on SeaWorld for the release of Corky. Like Lolita, Corky was sold into the entertainment industry after being torn away from her family and ocean home. She was used for years as a breeding machine—but not one of her babies survived past 47 days. Her last pregnancy ended in a miscarriage when her dead baby was found at the bottom of a concrete tank at SeaWorld.

Can you join us to call for the release of Corky to a seaside sanctuary?
