Anime Detroit 21+

Anime Detroit 21+ is for people who actually love anime as a medium, not just whatever shonen happens to be trending on Netflix that month 😭

If you’ve been watching anime for years, have opinions about directors/studios/mangaka, love older series, weird series, beautiful series, psychological series, romance, sci-fi, experimental stuff, etc., this is probably your crowd.
The goal is to make this a fun, social, actually interesting anime community for adults in Metro Detroit. We’ll do things like restaurant outings, anime screenings, nature walks, cute local activities, monthly manga discussions, and monthly mini “history lessons” on studios, directors, creators, mangaka, movements, and different eras of anime.

I also really want the group to go deeper than just “what’s your favorite anime?” We can talk about anime history, how Western culture has influenced anime and vice versa, censorship/localization, industry changes, aesthetics, themes, philosophy, character writing, and whatever niche topic someone wants to nerd out about. Anime debates are encouraged as long as everyone is normal about it lol.
Basically: good food, good people, beautiful places, anime, manga, education, discussion, and fun.

You do not need to be an expert, but this group is definitely more geared toward seasoned fans who want to explore beyond mainstream seasonal shonen and actually engage with anime as art, history, and culture.
