About us

The Ann Arbor Jaycees is a member-lead civic, service, and social organization for adults ages 21-40, with opportunities for leadership development through community service. Founded in 1936 as a chapter within the (as then-titled) national Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Ann Arbor Jaycees are the only active JCI (Junior Chamber International) chapter in Washtenaw County. Our chapter focuses on community service and social activities.

Our most prominent projects are the Ann Arbor Fourth of July Parade, which we have planned, organized, and run since 1993 and assisted with since its inception in 1991 and 1992, and the Summer Carnival at Pioneer High School, which has been our primary fundraiser since 1952. We also run an annual Thanksgiving food drive, "Bountiful Baskets," which in 2025 provided meals to 150 families; and have a long-running event with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washtenaw County. Our other activities and service work differ year to year, following the interests of our members.
