Sketching at Matthaei Botanical Gardens (Jun '25)

Ann Arbor Sketchers - Sketching at Matthaei Botanical Gardens (i.e., outside garden areas)

For our June outdoor sketching, we will return to Matthaei Botanical Gardens to explore their outside garden areas to choose our drawing subjects. These include the Herb Knot Garden, the Perennial Garden; the Children's Garden, the Bonsai Garden, the Labyrinth, and more (and, of course, there are the trails beyond that if you want more a sense of the wild). If we do get caught out by rain, we can always go indoors and sketch in the Conservatory.

Let's meet at the visitor center entrance at 10:00 a.m., then spread out, as we prefer to our chosen sketching site. Afterwards too, we may want to catch the indoor solo art exhibit by Anne Erlewine, named Moth Eden, which will be available through July 6th. It is described on the MBGNA website as: ‘Moth Eden’ is a series of works exploring the relationship between the reverence of form depicted as abstract landscape and the interpretation of the ethereal realm as it pertains to form and figure (see https://mbgna.umich.edu/event/moth-eden-anne-erlewine-solo-exhibition).
