42: The Jackie Robinson Story (2013) Monday, July 7, 5pm
In 1947 the Brooklyn Dodgers hired Jackie Robinson, making him the first Black baseball player to join the major leagues. Robinson, who was a star in the “Negro Leagues,” must deal with both subtle and virulent racism from the press, fans, fellow teammates and players from opposing teams. A realistic and vivid portrayal of a pivotal period in American sports and culture. 2 hrs. 8 mins. PG-13.
