Act 4 Change (over Zoom)

Details

We meet to share knowledge about actions we can/did take, to share experience and get support with doing actions, and learn skills for taking actions. We come together to focus on taking action now to make systemic changes for racial justice.

In addition to helping each other develop plans of action, we are adding to a Google Sheet with current petitions, initiatives to call legislators about, groups to join, podcasts that inform us about actions we can take, and groups doing great work already that we can engage with, etc.

We meet regularly on the 3rd Saturday of each month. We welcome you to plan your activities around this and join us. Now is the time to act for change!

ZOOM:
The meeting code will be posted in the comments on this page before the meeting. Only folks who RSVP will be let in from the "waiting room." Please join the call 5 minutes before the official meeting start time to make sure you can get on the call. We want to start the meeting at 2 pm. Put a comment on this page if you are having problems getting in. (Please download Zoom in advance if you haven't used it before.)

Please let us know your needs so we can help make the event accessible for you.

All are welcome.

Impetus for the Act 4 Change group (note from the organizer, Deb):

Nate Woods (pictured) was executed/lynched on 3/5/20 in Alabama. He was innocent, just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Along with many other folks, I made a few actions to help stop his execution, but it wasn't enough. This was my motivation for starting a monthly Knapsack meeting with a focus on taking action.

Our first meeting was on 3/28/20.
