Online Lecture: Towards a posthuman (or postsheep) future

Details

Lecture: Martin Rees talks about how the future of humanity hinges on how successfully we are at harnessing technological advances.
Yes! I know the title states the absolute obvious. It’s pre-recorded and hosted by the RI. Apparently technical difficulties did lead to the livestreamed event being cancelled earlier this year. Yeah the irony.

Martin is an absolutely ancient cosmologist and once said “aging famous scientists too often overreach”. And in his case when it comes to AI, robotics and a few other bits, I could not agree more. I can’t stress enough how much we disagree on AI, Elon Musk and the future of robots.

So why would I suggest this as an event? Well there things we do agree on, and, well he is always entertaining. Also the sheep seem to love him, especially the ones that “think” they are intellectuals.
And as I have said many times before, one should always take the opportunity to learn and understand better, the latest ideas the sheep are buying into. (If only to use the this knowledge to mock the sheep with)
