Low-Pressure Meetups for People with Social (and Every Other Kind of) Anxiety

If your anxiety has quietly wrecked your social life, you’re in the right place.

This group exists for anyone who wants to be around other people without the pressure to talk, perform, or even make eye contact if you don’t feel like it. No forced icebreakers. No circle of sharing. No expectation that you’ll leave feeling “braver.” Just the simple, powerful act of showing up in the same space as people who actually understand what it’s like.

We meet in easy, central locations (think parks, or low-key public spots in and around the greater Birmingham area) where you can sit, walk, read, listen to music, or just breathe and exist together, but not on top of each other. Some days you might feel the courage to chat a little with someone. Some days you won’t. Both are 100% fine.

Rules for participation: be kind, don’t press others to talk, and (if anyone does chat) avoid polarizing topics that breed tension.

Here’s how it works:

Everything is planned online first. We discuss ideas, vote on times and places, and you can participate as much or as little as your anxiety allows.

Come to as many (or as few) meetups as you want. Show up late, leave early, or stay the whole time. Your comfort level decides.
Panic attacks, quiet days, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, BPD, or any other flavor of anxiety… all are welcome. You don’t have to explain yourself.

This isn’t a therapy group or a “fix your anxiety” club. It’s a “let’s stop hiding alone and start existing together” club. Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is get out of the house and simply be in the same open space as someone who gets it.

If that sounds like the kind of support you’ve been looking for, join us.

My name is Cody, and I’m the founder of "The A Club" (aka Social Anxiety Allies). I’ve lived with an anxiety disorder and major depressive disorder since I was 12. Now, I’m learning how to navigate life after years of “high-performance” masking as a former tech business founder, Fortune 500 company contractor and U S. Marine, and I’m done pretending it’s easy.

I’m a small-group facilitator by nature, empathetic, thoughtful, and someone who genuinely loves deep conversation when the moment feels right. But I also know exactly how crushing social (and every other kind of) anxiety can be. That’s why I created this group: a truly low-pressure space where we can simply show up together, without any expectation to perform, chat, or “fix” anything.

Whether you’re having a quiet day, a panic-attack day, or a rare good day, you’re welcome exactly as you are. I’ll be there right alongside you -- anxious, imperfect, and finally okay with not having it all together.

Looking forward to existing in the same space with you

— Your fellow anxious human
