7.00pm - Talk - "A Thorough Introduction to Apache Kafka" with Stanislav Kozlovski from Confluent (https://www.confluent.io)

Lately, the word Kafka has been popping up more and more around the internet, but what does it mean? Are people really that passionate about the famous author Franz Kafka? Join Stanislav Kozlovski as he unveils the mystery behind the buzzword and explains in depth what this very famous open source project is all about. After this talk, you will be comfortable knowing what Kafka is all about and will become well-versed enough in Kafka terminology to impress all of your friends!

Stanislav is a self-taught software engineer who has worked for high-growth start ups all his life, previously being at SumUp, an European fintech company (dubbed fastest growing European company for 2017). After building an online presence through technical blog posts, he is nowadays part of the Kafka Core team at Confluent developing Apache Kafka® itself!
Outside of work, Stanislav enjoys working out, going on hikes or runs, practicing self-development, writing technical blog posts, attending tech conferences/meet ups and drinking lots coffee.

7:50 pm - Talk - "Reliable Fast Access to On-Chain Data Insights" with Jendrik Poloczek from tokenanalyst.io

At TokenAnalyst we build infrastructure to run blockchain nodes, API's to query/access on-chain data, and BI tools to perform deep analytics on blockchain apps and smart-contracts. We offer both historical and low-latency data streams of on-chain data across multiple blockchains. With the help of Confluent Platform, we built resilient stream-based data pipelines that our customers can rely on. In this talk, I’ll dive into how we build a block confirmer in Scala and Kafka Streams. Furthermore, I’ll talk about our use of KSQL for various streaming queries.

Jendrik spent the last five years as a data engineer in the ad tech, peer-to-peer video streaming and IoT industries. He’s familiar with batch processing tasks in Apache Spark™ and Apache Flink®. However, he transitioned to Kafka Streams when it was first released and created Mocked Streams, a testing library for topologies in Scala. He later started a business in smart contract monitoring and is now tech lead at TokenAnalyst, where he sees trusted data as the next data paradigm.
