NiFi and Kafka

Details
6:15 - 6:45 - Walk in, Mingle
6:45 - 8:30 - Joe Witt (http://twitter.com/joewitt26) will introduce Apache NiFi (incubating) and the main concepts behind it. The talk will include a live demo showing the power of the real-time command and control and data provenance features. The talk will include examples of interaction between NiFi and Apache Kafka.
Joe Witt Onyara Inc. In 2006, Joe Witt created a dataflow framework that grew into a community and evolved over eight years into what became Apache NiFi (incubating). Following NiFi's open source release by the NSA in 2014, Joe has become an active committer and member of the Apache NiFi PPMC. Joe remains focused on solving global scale dataflow challenges and is a regular speaker on NiFi and data provenance (chain of custody for data).
To quote Ingestion Tips (http://ingest.tips/2014/12/22/getting-started-with-apache-nifi/): Apache NiFi (http://nifi.incubator.apache.org/) is a dataflow system that is currently under incubation at the Apache Software Foundation. NiFi is based on the concepts of flow-based programming and is highly configurable. NiFi uses a component based extension model to rapidly add capabilities to complex dataflows. Out of the box NiFi has several extensions for dealing with file-based dataflows such as FTP, SFTP, and HTTP integration as well as integration with HDFS. One of NiFi’s unique features is a rich, web-based interface for designing, controlling, and monitoring a dataflow.
