Our first talk is by Martin White (http://www.intranetfocus.com/) on "Enterprising attitudes to open source search". The take-up of open source search as a general purpose enterprise search application has been slower than anticipated. Martin will outline what he regards as some of the reasons for this, and suggest ways in which the community can stimulate market adoption and search satisfaction.
Martin White is the author of four books on enterprise search, most recently the 2nd edition of Enterprise Search for O'Reilly Media. He has been in the enterprise search business since the early 1980s and has supported the selection and implementation of both commercial and open source applications.
Our second talk comes from Tomasz Sobczak of Findwise (http://findwise.com/) on "Query completion strategies in real life applications". He will talk about what is important when considering
really effective query completion in a few different examples. He will then talk about how to implement it in Solr and describe some of the tooling he uses.
Tomasz has been continuously working with search engines for 6 years now. Before joining Findwise, he was responsible for a search system at one of the largest news portal in Poland. At Findwise he specialises in matching business needs with technical implementation of search engines based on open sources for large companies in Scandinavia and Poland.
