Deploying Solr in complicated multi-region environments & Search at BBC Online

Details
We're back for 2020 with two great talks and the usual networking and chat!
Konstantin Perikov of EPAM is our first speaker with a review of different ways to deploy Solr in complicated multi region environments. In his talk he will go over different ways to organise Solr deployment in complicated situations of having multiple datacenters/availability zones. Those ways will be reviewed with expert opinion on what suits different scenarios better (frequent updates, rare updates, etc). He will showcase different numbers taken from experiments (simulations in those complex scenarios) to prove those recommendations (e.g. latency, performance, etc). Konstantin Perikov is a Chief Software Engineer at EPAM (https://www.epam.com/). He is highly qualified Search Engineer with 7+ years of experience in creating, supporting, troubleshooting, enhancing several search solutions based on Solr/Lucene/Elastic stacks in different areas like e-commerce, patents, publishing, finance.
Our second talk is from Andy Webb, Senior Technical Architect at the BBC. Andy will give a brief tour of the past, present and future of Search on BBC Online.
Drinks & pizza provided by our kind hosts at EPAM. Doors from 6.30pm - talks will start at 7pm sharp so don't be late!
