Applying (Test) Automation to the ‘Magic’ of Search Engines

Details

Our second remote Meetup - the Zoom session will be open from 17.45 UK time. Please do mute your microphone during the session: we'll use Zoom's Chat window for questions. The session will be recorded to Youtube.

Curiosity Software’s Managing Director, Huw Price, will be our first speaker. Huw brings 35 years of QA experience, applying the science of cause-and-effect modelling to test logically complex systems. He’s now focusing on applying this experience to search development. The journey so far has focused so far on tackling the delays associated with test data provisioning, creating an on demand service for subsetting and augmenting data as it moves to Solr collections. Huw’s mind is now turning to building more structured automation for search testing. However, this automation must be built around the expertise of the search developers – and that’s where Huw needs you! This talk will present Huw’s progress so far, and will set out Huw’s current thinking for building structured automation for Solr. The goal of this session is to help shape the journey of search test automation together, drawing on the insights from the QA and Search community.

Huw Price is a test data management veteran and a serial entrepreneur, now founder of his fifth software start-up. Huw’s 35 years of experience in software delivery has brought collaboration with a wide-range of organisations, large and small. He has crafted strategies and innovative technologies for test data success, on projects ranging from large-scale migrations from mainframe to open systems, to building best-of-breed test automation frameworks for microservices.

We need a second talk! Do let me know if you can provide or suggest one.

Plus the usual Q&A.
