First Spark Meetup - Bringing this group alive ...

The meetup will be in One Equifax meeting room in Building 1 (JVW 1)

The inaugural Atlanta Apache Spark Meetup will be kicked off with an introduction to the community and to Apache Spark. We will introduce Spark through a review of the evolution of distributed, analytical data processing technologies. We will review the contents and modules contained in the current release of Apache Spark, providing code examples where appropriate. Discussion topics will include, RDDs, Spark Jobs, Streaming, MLib, Spark SQL, GraphX, etc. We will also discuss and facilitate some open discussion to understand how users in the Atlanta community are using different Spark modules today, with a goal of identifying future group topics. This is an excellent opportunity to introduce yourself and be introduced to Apache Spark and the Atlanta Spark Community.

Bio

Jonathan is a Solutions Architect with DataStax, the commercial provider of Apache Cassandra. Jonathan is a hands-on architect/engineer that works with users, communities, partners and customers helping implement online Big Data engineered solutions leveraging technologies such as Cassandra, SOLR, Spark, TitanDB, and Hadoop. DataStax is a contributor to the Apache Spark project, as well as a strategic partner with Databricks, the commercial provider of Apache Spark. Jonathan is a native Atlantan and an active member of the Atlanta Cassandra Users Group.
