Agenda:

6:00-6:15PM: Intro/Welcome

6:15-7:00PM: Apache NiFi Registry, SDLC, and Parameters - Kevin Doran & Bryan Bende

Kevin Doran is a software developer on the Data in Motion team at Cloudera (formerly Hortonworks). He's also a member of the Project Management Committee for Apache NiFi, where he contributes to the NiFi Registry and the security framework for various NiFi projects. At Cloudera, Kevin is working on Edge Flow Manager, a scalable command and control solution for Apache MiNiFi deployments. He's enthusiastic about open source software and building communities of developers that share knowledge with each other. He enjoys automating workflows and building simple technology that solves practical problems.

Prior to joining Cloudera, Kevin helped build a global-scale optimization platform at Videology and advanced numerous research projects in the areas of cyber security, networking protocols, and secure mobile computing at BBN Technologies. He holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Maryland (go Terps!), and loves listening to podcasts, reading, and spending time with my family.

7:00-7:45PM: Stateless NiFi and NiFi on Kubernetes - Mark Payne

Mark Payne co-created and authored what is now known as Apache NiFi. In November 2014, the National Security Agency donated the codebase to the Apache Software Foundation. In 2015 Mark and a small team of cofounders launched a company, Onyara, to commercially support Apache NiFi and related efforts. A few short months later, Onyara was acquired by Hortonworks which has since merged with Cloudera. Mark continues to serve on the Apache NiFi Project Management Committee and is the Lead Software Engineer at Cloudera for the core framework and API of NiFi.

7:45-8:30PM: NiFi for Security at Morgan Stanley - Robert Bruno

Robert Bruno is an Executive Director with Morgan Stanley. He works on Morgan Stanley’s Threat Hunt Team as a core developer. The Threat Hunt Team heavily utilizes open source projects throughout their platform. One of Robert’s responsibilities is running dataflow for the team. He uses Apache NiFi to achieve a flexible, scalable solution to ensure the Threat Hunt Team is able to receive all necessary data in a timely manner. Robert enjoys working with new exciting open source technologies along with developing analytics, automation tools, and anything else that the team needs. When not behind the keyboard, he likes driving a slow car (i.e. his Miata) fast on the race track. Robert’s talk with go over how NiFi fits into the Threat Hunt platform, along with discussing new features which he shaped with the Apache NiFi team. He is now heavily utilizing these features in his flows to achieve even greater performance and flexibility.
