Paddling Trip on the Upper St. Marks River

Let’s plan to meet at the St. Marks River at Natural Bridge at 9:00 am EDT on Monday, June 30. This is where the St. Marks River goes underground and was the site of the Civil War battle of Natural Bridge. The St. Marks River here is a beautiful, winding little river, probably mostly clear at this time. The plan is to paddle up to the first major obstruction and then float back. Trees generally line both banks making the river shady most of the way. This will be an easy, short run, so we’ll make this a float trip on the way back to prolong the pleasure. We’ll take out at the same place as the put in.

Bring your own boat, paddles, pfd, whistle, plenty of water, insect repellent, sun protection, rain gear, snacks, personal first aid kit and any medications you may need. You need wear your pfd while paddling. No dogs please. Children under 18 must be accompanied by their legal guardian or parent.

You must contact the trip organizer to be included in this paddling trip, and you must sign a 2025 insurance waiver. This event is being posted on Meetup and the AC/KC group list. For more details, please contact Hal Davis by phone at 850 510-7262. To sign up respond to the Meetup announcement, or just reply to this email.
