Our 2024 Hike on the Dingle Way

Details
Located in the scenic south-west of Ireland, the Dingle Way is a spectacular long distance trail (101 miles) around the Dingle Peninsula, starting and stopping in the town of Tralee, the Capital of Kerry. This windswept, at times rugged area was described as “the most beautiful place on earth” by National Geographic. It offers stunning landscapes with trails, paths, dirt roads, and beach walking. There are breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, the land is dotted with ruined castles, ancient standing stones and “Beehive Huts” dating back 6000 BC.
Being in Ireland, many of the tiny pubs along the trail feature local musicians playing traditional Celtic music. Yvonne will describe the trip, she and her husband took last year, in pictures and explain how anyone can do this trip on their own.
Our speaker, Yvonne Gsteiger, a retired attorney in Tallahassee, is a life-long athlete, outdoors enthusiast and musician. In addition to leading hiking tours in Austria and Switzerland, some of her other adventures include 7 days kayaking in Alaska, 7 days canoeing in the Everglades, a cross-country biking trip, hiking portions of the Appalachian Trail, hiking the Dolomites in Italy, and hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc solo. Yvonne owns her own company, “Alpensee Tours” for hiking trips in Europe. She also leads bicycle tours in the US and Canada for two bike companies.
The evening begins with a social at 6:30 pm, the Meeting starts at 7:00. Refreshments are provided by chapter members.
