Sunday Stroll in the Park Note: Daylight Saving Time ends. Reset your clocks!
Details
Are you thinking about hiking but haven’t tried it yet? Are you looking for a lovely way to ease into Sunday morning? Would you like to enjoy conversation with new friends? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please join us for a leisurely 2-mile hike through the beautiful forest in A.J. Henry Park.
Meet at the picnic pavilion near the restrooms at 9:45. We will sign-in, have introductions, announcements and then hit the trail at 10:00. We will hike the 2-mile loop and then meet back at the pavilion. Bring your snack/brunch/lunch and we’ll enjoy getting to know each other even better as we “chat and chew” after the hike.
This trail is totally shaded and well maintained. It is an easy/moderate hike through a forest filled with oaks and pines, a deep ravine with wooden steps and handrails for walking down the slope and crossing the stream, and a delightful surprise under one of the huge oaks. There are many roots and a bit of uneven footing, so always walk with care. At this time of year, the path is also covered with many hickory nuts which can cause your foot to roll, so watch where you place your feet! Always be on the lookout for poison ivy, poison oak, snakes, and other forest critters. This trail is not suitable for strollers or very young children. Well behaved dogs on a leash are welcome. Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Bring water and wear shoes appropriate for hiking. Bug repellant and sunscreen may be your best friend!
Location: A.J. Henry Park, A.J. Henry Park Dr. , Tallahassee, FL 32309
