You are invited to join our chapter meeting with guest speaker Dr. Walter Tschinkel, Professor Emeritus of the Department of Biological Science at Florida State University, aka The Ant Man. In his talk "Most of Your Neighbors Are Ants: A Brief Introduction," Dr. Tschinkel will briefly highlight the natural history of a few of the over 100 ant species living in the Tallahassee region.

Dr. Tschinkel has been poking into the biology and natural history of ants for over 50 years, and has learned a thing or two in that time. He is a world expert in fire ant biology and the architecture of underground ant nests, and has written a book on each subject. Dr. Tschinkel taught at FSU and conducted his research for more than 40 years, yet his interest in ant biology has not abated.

All FTA Apalachee Chapter Meetings are open to the public. We open our Chapter meetings with a Social, featuring delicious member-provided refreshments, at 6:30 pm. At 7:00pm the meeting begins, we adjourn at 8:00pm. We rent a beautiful meeting space from the church; however, FTA and the Apalachee Chapter are not affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tallahassee.

If you are a college student, feel free to organize a carpool (from campus) under the comments section.
