We’re pleased to introduce our new APEX Live & Learn workshop and panel program, designed to provide a platform for AAPI community members and allies to share their professional skills and empower one another. It is also a venue for like-minded people to meet, collaborate, and create exciting opportunities and lasting friendships.
Our inaugural Live & Learn workshop Filmmaking 101 will cover:
1. Basic rules of movie storytelling.
2. How to shoot a simple conversation scene.
3. Quick editing demo and basic editing dos and don'ts.
This workshop will be hosted by our board members and professional filmmakers, Marcus Chan and Nate Nie.
Marcus Chan is an editor with extensive post-production experience. Most recently, he co-edited the feature film "Memories to Choke On, Dreams to Wash Them Down," which is streaming on Netflix, and was the post-production supervisor of the feature documentary "2020: Chaos and Hope," directed by Emmy winner June Beallor and currently streaming on Peacock.
Nate Zheng Nie is a writer-director based in Los Angeles. He's won a number of awards like UCLA Directors Spotlight award, Dam Short Film Festival Best Screenplay award, and American Advertising Federation's ADDY award.
