Agile Professional Learning Network - Strategic Estimation Workshop

Details
Topic:
Introduction to Strategic Estimation & Prioritization -
mini-Workshop (Part 1 of 2)
Description:
Organizations need effective methods for estimating and prioritizing strategic initiatives in today’s complex business landscape. This ‘Introduction to Strategic Estimation & Prioritization’ mini-Workshop was crafted for leaders seeking a clear, collaborative approach to estimating and prioritizing initiatives for optimal return on investment. It is intended to provide:
- Overview a modern economic-based estimation & prioritization method (WSJF)
- Try this method on 3 simple initiatives
- Discuss next steps
The mini-Workshop is a proof-of-concept. The authors have two flavors which will be presented and discussed over two APLN sessions (A/B Testing). They need feedback on each mini-Workshop to two questions:
- How can the workshop be improved for future delivery (fit for purpose)?
- Which one is more conducive to learning and follow-up engagements (A/B Testing)?
Therefore, each APLN session will consist of two parts. First, a presentation of one of the mini-Workshops. Second, an open discussion of that workshop intended to provide the authors with meaningful feedback.
Background
The full ‘Strategic Estimation & Prioritization’ Workshop originated with the ‘Strategic Estimation Primer’ article. In it the authors empower leaders with a simple, repeatable estimation process tailored to unique business needs, transforming estimation into a practical tool for alignment, collaboration, and informed decision-making. The Workshop evolved beyond this article into a broader presentation of how ‘guided conversations’ enable insights and more meaningful estimation and prioritization. The mini-Workshop provides only a ‘taste’ of the full Workshop, with the intention to encourage the participants to attend the full workshop.
